Ryan Serhant Net Worth: $20M

Who Is Ryan Serhant?

Ryan Serhant is an American actor, real estate agent and reality star whose net worth stands at $20M.

He currently stars in the Brave TV series Million Dollar Listing New York and its spin-off Sell it Like Serhant.

He also has a very successful YouTube Channel with over 1 million subscribers and runs his own New York Real estate company.

The Early Years

Ryan Serhant was born on July 2, 1984, in Houston, Texas and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts where he went to Pingree School.

Ryan always credit his father John Serhant (Vice Chairman of State Street Global Advisors) for instilling the mentality in him to work hard from a young age.

Serhant’s first foray into entrepreneurship came when he and his brother Jack collected wood for their father for $1.50 an hour.

They subsequently sold the wood to their neighbours as firewood. This first experience taught Ryan the value of hard work and earning a dollar.

Serhant would spend most of his childhood summers with his family in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he attended Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp which sparked his interest in theatre and arts.

Later, he went to Hamilton College where he double-majored in English Literature and theatre and was part of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

He graduated in 2006 and subsequently moved to New York City to start his acting career.

After a year of participating in stock photo shoots to pay rent in 2007, Serhant landed his first role as Evan Walsh on the soap opera As The World Turns.

When his acting career began to slow down he did some hand modelling, posing for products that included AT&T phones and Nespresso pods.

However, hand modeling certainly wasn’t his passion so with some persuasion from a friend he moved into real estate sales at the same time as the collapse of both Lehman Brothers and the subprime mortgage market

Initially, he earned his real estate license as a way of supporting himself whilst he still auditioned for acting roles.

In his first year, Serhant worked to win new business in creative ways such as distributing flyers that declared him the number one broker in New York, as well a approaching shoppers with fancy bags on the streets of NYC.

In his first year he earned just $9,000. After a year long pursuit he had managed to bag himself his first major sale, a property worth $8.5M.

By 2012, Serhant was starting to make a name for himself and The Real Deal ranked him No. 15 out of the 100 most successful agents in New York.

Serhant had been hired by Nest Seekers International in 2008 and later became vice president and managing director.

In 2012, he launched a bi-coastal brokerage team, the Serhant Team, which had over 60 staff members across New York, New Jersey, LA, the Hamptons and Miami.

This team specializes in high-end residential condo and co-op sales, home and new development sales.

The Serhant Team deals include the sale of Ellie Tahari’s Astor Place property for $15.5M and a $30M sale at 152 Elizabeth St to venture capitalist Benchmark Capital.

They also set the price-per-square-foot sales records in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island City with a list-to-sale ratio of 94.5%. In 2017 they closed $838M in Manhattan real estate deals.

In 2010, Ryan auditioned for The Million Dollar Listing New York (MDLNY) reality show and got the part as one of three real estate agents on the show.

The first episode was shown on Bravo in 2012 and followed Ryan Serhant, Fredrik Eklund and Michael Lorber across some of New York’s most exclusive real estate deals.

The show is not scripted or staged meaning sales on the show are not always finalized which can make for some gripping TV moments.

Ryan has also appeared CNN, FOX, CNBC, ABC and CBS. In 2018, alongside Gary Vaynerchuk he gave a keynote address at Agent 2021.

By 2017, Serhant had produced and launched a spin off from MDLNY called Sell It Like Serhant where he coaches under-performing salespeople, hoping to improve their skills.

He is known to recommend improvisation classes to new sales associated to help get them up to speed quickly.

In 2018, on the week of his 10-year anniversary in real estate, he released his first book, Sell It Like Serhant: How to Sell More, Earn More, and Become the Ultimate Sales Machine.

It became a best-seller on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Los Angeles Times booklists.

In 2019, Ryan launched Sell It Like Serhant: The Course, which sold over $100,000 a day at launch.

It has since gone on to become the No. 1 real estate course of all time and has grown to over 4,000 members in 83 countries.
