Sean Hannity is an American TV and radio host who has a net worth of $250M.

He is most well known for hosting the radio talk show The Sean Hannity Show and the program Hannity on the Fox News Channel.

The Early Years

Sean Hannity was born December 30, 1961, in New York City.

He grew up in Franklin Square with his mother, Lillian, who worked as a stenographer and corrections officer, and his father, Hugh, who was a family court officer.

Sean has four siblings of which he is the youngest and he is of Irish heritage. All four of his grandparents immigrated to the US.

He attended St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary high school in Uniondale, New York, and furthered his education at New York University, UC Santa Barbara, and Adelphi University.

However, he did not graduate from college.

In the early 1980s, he started his own house painting business and also worked as a building contractor in Santa Barbara.

In 1989, while working in California, Hannity got his first opportunity to host a talk show at UC Santa Barbara’s volunteer college station, KCSB-FM.

However, the show was axed after less than a year due to the contentious way in which LGBT rights were discussed on the show.

After KCSB, Sean joined WVNN in Athens, Alabama as the afternoon talk show host. He then went on to work for WGST in Atlanta in 1992.

Career

In 1996, Hannity got his first exposure to a larger audience when Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes hired him to host a TV program.

The show was called Hannity & Colmes and he co-hosted it with Alan Colmes.

On the show, Colmes represented the liberal view and Hannity the conservative.

Hannity didn’t abandon his radio career when he ventured into TV. In 1997, he joined WABC and was given the late-night time slot, before moving into the afternoon slot in 1998.

He continued to work in this slot until the end of 2013. Since early 2014, Hannity has hosted the 3-6 pm time slot on WOR in New York City.

In 2001 Hannity’s radio program, The Sean Hannity Show began national syndication where it became available on more than 500 stations across the US.

The radio show is a conservative political talk show which is mostly based on Hannity’s own opinions around current affairs.

In 2004, Hannity signed a $25M, five-year contract extension with ABC Radio to continue the show up to 2009.

However, by 2008, he had signed a new $100M, five-year contract with Citadel Communications (who bought ABC radio in 2007).

Up to 2018, The Sean Hannity Show is heard by more than 13.5 million listeners each week.

Thanks to the popularity of the show, Hannity was ranked number 2 by Talker Magazine in their annual Heavy Hundred list.

In 2017 he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and received a Marconi Award in 2003 and 2007 from the National Association of Broadcasters as the Network Syndicated Personality of the Year.

In 2007, Hannity began hosting his own Sunday night TV which was also on Fox News called Hannity’s America.
